چکیده

This study focused on the optimization of xylitol production from sugarcane bagasse by using response surface methodology. Xylitol was produced through a series processes, firstly, ultrasound-assisted mild alkaline pretreatment for xylan extraction followed enzymatic hydrolysis to xylose enzyme β-1,4-xylanase and finally microbial fermentation yeast (Candida guilliermondii), bacteria (Corynebacterium glutamicum) their mixed culture different time periods (0–96 h). Maximum recovery 12.059% (w/w) observed at pretreatment; 0.73 M NaOH, 1:38.55 solid-to-liquid ratio 34.77 min ultrasonication. The concentration 400 U/g 48 h incubation showed highest (81.51 mg/g bagasse). Yeast (C. guilliermondii) resulted in yield (Yp/s = 0.43 g/g) after 72 h. bioprocess route can contribute as suitable alternative chemical methods production.

Increased enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse from enzyme recycling

BACKGROUND Development of efficient methods for production of renewable fuels from lignocellulosic biomass is necessary to maximize yields and reduce operating costs. One of the main challenges to industrial application of the lignocellulosic conversion process is the high costs of cellulolytic enzymes. Recycling of enzymes may present a potential solution to alleviate this problem. In the pres...

Comparison between Wet Oxidation and Steam Explosion as Pretreatment Methods for Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Sugarcane Bagasse

Alkaline wet oxidation and steam explosion pretreatments of sugarcane bagasse were compared with regard to biomass fractionation, formation of by-products, and enzymatic convertibility of the pretreated material. Wet oxidation led to the solubilisation of 82% of xylan and 50% of lignin, and to a two-fold increase of cellulose content in the pretreated solids, while steam explosion solubilised o...

Pretreatment and enzymatic process modification strategies to improve efficiency of sugar production from sugarcane bagasse

Pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis play a critical role in the economic production of sugars and fuels from lignocellulosic biomass. In this study, we evaluated diverse pilot-scale pretreatments and different post-pretreatment strategies for the production of fermentable sugars from sugarcane bagasse. For the pretreatment of bagasse at pilot-scale level, steam explosion without catalyst and ...

Comparative hydrolysis and fermentation of sugarcane and agave bagasse.

Sugarcane and agave bagasse samples were hydrolyzed with either mineral acids (HCl), commercial glucanases or a combined treatment consisting of alkaline delignification followed by enzymatic hydrolysis. Acid hydrolysis of sugar cane bagasse yielded a higher level of reducing sugars (37.21% for depithed bagasse and 35.37% for pith bagasse), when compared to metzal or metzontete (agave pinecone ...

Ball Milling Pretreatment of Bagasse for Ethanol Production by Enzymatic Saccharification and Fermentation

Enzymatic saccharification (Hydrolysis) is one of the technologies to hydrolyze lignocellulosic biomass. In this study, Bangladeshi bagasse is used as feedstock for enzymatic saccharification and ethanol fermentation. Cutter mill and Mechano-chemical treatment (Ball mill) are used for pretreatment. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration, pretrea...
